Paul Kinser

As a result of osteosarcoma, Paul opted for the removal of the tumor in his left hand in April 2020. This decision led to Paul becoming a partial hand amputee, and the loss of his thumb and index finger on his left hand.

Paul came to P&O Care Ottobock.care because he was looking for guidance and information on prosthetics and how a device would help him during his limb loss journey. During his first visit at P&O Care Ottobock.care, Paul presented a handmade shrinker, which was sewn by his wife, Peggy. After his consultation with P&O Care Ottobock.care’s clinical director Jon Wilson, CPO/LPO, the decision was to fit Paul with a partial hand prosthetic device. Paul will be one of the first recipients in the area of the Point Digit II, a mechanical, passive (i.e. not powered) and robust articulating prosthetic finger.

He plans to use his prosthetic to be independent enough to perform routine maintenance around his home and care for his family. Although he is retired, he still maintains an active lifestyle with his wife and their daughter, Rachel. He is an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer, and plans to resume his hobbies as soon as he can.
